Manipura - The Solar Plexus Chakra

Manipura is the Solar Plexus Chakra or the 3rdChakra located above the navel but below the chest. It is associated with personal power, social identity, influence, authority and self-control. It is said to be the source of our will, peace, radiance, joy, inner harmony, vitality and inner strength. In one word, the Solar Plexus Chakra is about empowerment. The verb attached to Manipura is ‘can’, as in “I Can.”

Yellow is the color vibration related to the Solar Plexus Chakra with Citrine, Tiger’s Eye, Topaz’ Yellow Sapphire, Surpentine and Yellow Jasper all acting upon the balance of the chakra. Amber also acts upon Manipura, although it is not technically a gemstone. The Solar Plexus Chakra is tied to the Fire element and the herbs Bergamot, Rosemary, Lemon Balm and Goldenseal. Although technically a spice, Black Pepper also acts upon Manipura.

Manipura is connected to our sense of smell and responds to Cinnamon, Bergamot, Cardamon, Cedarwood, Juniper and Rosemary. The Mantra connected to the Solar Plexus chakra is RAM and is sometimes chanted at the E tone during meditation. It is also vocalized as the “o” as pronounced in the “top.” Physically, the Solar Plexus Chakra is connected to the digestive system, stomach, liver, spleen, pancreas and gall bladder.

Tomorrow will focus on how to tell if your Manipura is out of balance.
