Manipura - What’s Flowing?

Manipura, the Solar Plexus Chakra, located above the navel but below the chest is the center of self-definition and power. It represents the Fire element and brings us strength and the ability to hold energy for personal power and emotional control. It controls our ego and is connected to our social identity and vitality.

Ideally, this chakra brings us peace, radiance, joy, inner harmony and inner strength. When the masculine and feminine energy is balance, the Solar Plexus Chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity and non-dominating power. Self-control comes easily and this creates a sense of fairness and balance of our will and authority in the world. Because Manipura is connected to ego identity a block in this chakra can cause disruption in our emotions and self-love resulting in rage and destructive anger.

Intuition is believed to begin in the Solar Plexus Chakra where we consider our “gut” feeling to emanate. The lower three Chakras connect to the physical world while the higher four Chakras are associated with feeling, thought and insight. The Solar Plexus Chakra is where the interchange between the lower three and upper four occurs.

Physically, Manipura governs the pancreas, liver, spleen, stomach, gall bladder, nervous system and metabolism. Consequentially, a disruption in the Solar Plexus Chakra can result in difficulty with digestion.

The emotional self-control resulting from a balanced Manipura will help in relating to others and bringing peace into all of your relationships.

Tomorrow I’ll touch on what optimized Manipura energy flow feels like.
