Ajna - The Brow Chakra

Ajna is the Brow Chakra or the 6^th Chakra located in the center of the forehead, referred to by some as the “third eye”.  It is associated with intuition, inner vision, insight, peace of mind and projection of will. It also influences concentration, clairvoyance, imagination and manifestation. In a word, the BrowChakra is about perception. The verb attached to Ajna is ‘see’, as in “I See.”

Indigo is the color vibration related to the Brow Chakra with Amethyst, Azurite, Lepidolite, Iolite, Lapis and Sodolite acting upon the balance of the Chakra. The Brow Chakra is tied to the element of Light and the herbs Ginseng, Sandalwood, Rosemary and Mint. Although technically a spice, Star Anise is also tied to the Brow Chakra.

Ajna is connects to our sense of smell and responds to Anise, Hyacinth, Jasmine, Juniper, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary and Pine.  The Mantra connected to the Brow Chakra is SHUM and is sometimes chanted at the A tone during meditation. It is also vocalized as a hard “e” sound as in “he.” Physically, the Brow Chakra is connected to the endocrine system, the nose, ears, sinuses and part of the nervous sytem.
